Okay so this is Green Cheek Beer Co's single-hop series, the one where they pick exactly one variety and just, go for it, no blending, no hedging, and this time Citra got the full spotlight and I am completely on board.
This is a double dry-hopped Hazy DIPA at 8.7% ABV, built entirely around a hand-selected lot of Citra out of the Yakima Valley, and the brewery describes it as overloading the senses with everything that hop can do, which honestly undersells it. We're talking orange sherbet, Dole Whip soft serve, fresh grand daddy purple, mandarin zest, and cake frosting vibes stacked right on top of each other. It's a lot. It's supposed to be a lot.
Single-hop beers are a genuine flex, there's nowhere for a mediocre hop lot to hide, and Green Cheek clearly trusted this particular batch of Citra enough to put the entire beer's reputation on it. Orange, California's Green Cheek has been building out this "Just One Thing" series as a way to really showcase what a single variety can do without other hops muddying the picture, and Citra might be the flashiest showcase yet.
