Fruits of War

Fruits of War is Adroit Theory's blueberry passion fruit colada smoothie sour, proof that a beer named after conflict can still taste like a genuine vacation.

Despite the name, nothing about Fruits of War sounds particularly hostile once you actually read the can. Adroit Theory Brewing Company has taken its love of Pina Colada-inspired sours and pushed it further this time, adding blueberries and passion fruit to a base that already leaned tropical, resulting in something that looks like a smoothie and drinks like a genuine escape plan.

The tart sweetness of blueberry and pineapple combines with the coconut and passion fruit at the core of the recipe, producing what the brewery describes as a jammy summer treat. That's a fair description for a beer with the pour consistency of an actual smoothie, thick, vivid, and clearly not interested in being subtle about its fruit content.

This is Adroit Theory doing what it does best, taking a familiar dessert-adjacent flavor combination and pushing the volume up until it becomes something worth talking about. Purcellville's most inventive brewery treats smoothie sours less like a novelty and more like an actual specialty, and the case counts on this one suggest demand backs that up.

Available now as a limited crowler pour, Fruits of War won't be sticking around long, which tracks with most of Adroit Theory's rotating fruited lineup. Get it while you can, because unlike an actual war, there's no telling when this one gets a rerelease.

If dessert and beer have been circling each other for a while in your life, this is the moment they finally shake hands.
